Get Ready for Lightwell: Patch to Production at the Speed of AI
This lab demonstrates how Lightwell, combined with the Red Hat application platform — OpenShift Pipelines, OpenShift GitOps, Trusted Software Supply Chain, Ansible Automation Platform, and Red Hat AI — transforms open source vulnerability remediation from a weeks-long manual process into a continuous, automated operation that takes minutes.
You will work through two remediation paths — a quick win using Renovate (an open source dependency update tool that automatically creates merge requests when newer package versions are available), and a full automation path using Ansible Orchestrator, AI coding agents running on OpenCode, and Snow — and see a CVE go from detection to deployed fix in minutes.
Using This Environment
Your environment is split into two panels:
-
Left panel — these instructions. Use the navigation on the left side to move between modules and sections.
-
Right panel — a tabbed interface with a terminal and links to the various consoles you will use throughout the lab.
Running Commands
Throughout these instructions, you will see command blocks. Hover over a command block to reveal action icons in the upper-right corner:
echo "Hello from Lightwell!"
-
Clipboard — copies the text to your clipboard for pasting into a browser, a form, or another tool. Appears on all command blocks.
-
Execute (>_) — sends the command directly to the terminal on the right. This icon only appears on commands that are meant to be run in the terminal. No copy/paste needed.
| You can also type commands directly into the terminal. The terminal supports standard shell features like command history (Up / Down arrows), tab completion (Tab), and Ctrl+C to cancel a running command. |
Accessing Consoles
Above the terminal on the right side, you will see tabs for different consoles and tools. Clicking a tab opens the corresponding interface. You are also free to open the consoles in separate browser tabs using the links in Module 1.
